Dental Implants are dental devices that serve as an alternative to real teeth. They are used to replace missing teeth and improve dental function. These dental implants can be made of titanium, metal alloys or a mixture of metals. Some dental implants require the placement of bone grafting material before they can be placed in your mouth whereas others do not need this procedure. The benefits of dental implants include improved chewing ability, fewer cavities, less tooth sensitivity and more natural looking appearance with time. What are Dental Implants?Dental Implants have been used since the 1960s and are considered a permanent artificial replacement for one or more missing teeth. There are three parts to a dental implant: a titanium screw, a metal abutment and a dental crown. Dental implants can replace single or multiple teeth, and provides a natural look that’s hard to distinguish from your natural teeth. Dental implants can replace one or more missing teeth, and look so natural it’s hard to tell them from the real thing! The titanium screw is incredibly stable, made to last a lifetime. The stability from dental implants means they won’t move around in the mouth, and don’t require changes to any of the surrounding teeth. They are also permanent fixtures, meaning no need for glue or adhesive, or constantly removing false teeth. Why Get Dental Implants?Dental implants are a great solution to dental problems. They can replace missing teeth, making it easier for your mouth to chew and speak well again. Additionally, dental implants have been known to reduce or remove the need for dental bridges that require changing out every few years! With dental implants you won’t be worried about breaking another tooth or dental bridge, making them much more durable than other dental restoration methods. Dental implants can improve your dental health by:
When to Get Dental Implants? You should consider dental implants when you are toothless or have teeth that can’t be fixed by any other dental procedure. If your remaining teeth do not support dental bridges well enough to fix the issue then dental implants may be the best dental restoration option for you. If you have been avoiding dental procedures due to fear, dental implants might be a good choice for you because they are considered much less scary than other dental work! Dental implant surgery is conducted under local anesthesia, so it does not require any sedation or general anesthesia like some other dental surgeries do. Dental implants are typically placed after dental extractions, so don’t worry about losing your teeth again! You could consider dental implants if you have lost one or more of your natural teeth due to an accident, gum disease, illness or injury. Dental implants should only be placed when a person has sufficient bone volume in their jaw for dental implant placement. This is determined by a dental professional following an examination and x-rays.

Having a large tooth extraction was uncomfortable for me, so I really need to think about what I need to do afterward. Learning about dental implants is extremely helpful, so I can bet that this is something that will really help me out and avoid any complications afterward. I'll look for any dentists that offer it and make sure that I get the best one they suggest for me.
